Massage Supplies
There is a large variety of massage supplies on the market today. Massage Supplies include massage tables, massage chairs, accessories, oils, lotions, massage tools & massagers, videos, books and spa equipment.
Which ones should you buy? Which ones do you really need? This really depends on what kind of massage techniques you are using. I know many massage therapists who have tons of massage tools they never use. Sometimes I have the feeling that they bought those gadgets without thinking about whether they would even work for their situation. On the other hand, it does happen sometimes that the massage tool just doesn't turn out to be what you expected. Sometimes it is just junk.
I personally use a massage table or a massage chair for most of my work (even though I have used kitchen tables, office chairs, beds and sofas, too). I use pillows and bolsters for support. I like to use oils, lotions and creams for different applications and I even use some electric massagers for specific situations and other massage tools on occasion.
I like variety. Not because I want to impress people, but because all the different massage supplies help me to accommodate a client's individuality and preferences.
Let's say that I am working on someone with a jaw problem. They may not like lying on a massage table for 45 minutes. Maybe I can set them up on a massage table with pillows and a bolster to make them feel more comfortable.
Or what if some clients really like a very deep massage and your hands and wrists cannot handle that much pressure? You might be able to use massage tools like the Neuromuscular Therapy Bars or an electric massager to give your client what he wants without killing your hands.
