There are many massage techniques available but not all massage techniques work in all situations and not everyone wants to learn the same massage style.

When I started to learn massage I was pretty overwhelmed with the number of techniques there were to choose from. Over the years I studied many different massage techniques under different massage teachers.

In my experience, most massage therapists draw from a pool of different massage techniques. A good therapist will be able to modify techniques to satisfy the needs of his clients.

This page is meant to give you a taste of the different massage techniques out there. I would really have liked to have had something like this available when I started to learn massage!

Footnote: Massage Oils that dissolve in water are a great invention. They come either scented or unscented. There is Vanilla-Coconut, Lavender, Peppermint. I prefer unscented, so I bought that. It feels a little bit different than traditional massage oil, but not much. If you get it on your sheets, pillows and clothes, just put them in the wash. Anyway it works great.
